The National Conference on Agitation and Mixing is an event of high academic level and rich content in the chemical industry. It is held every two years to promote the scientific research and industrial application of agitation and mixing technology, to enhance the communication and cooperation between domestic and foreign counterparts. The 4th National Conference on Agitation and Mixing was successfully held at the Institute of Process Engineering, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing, China, Sept. 22-24, 2016. Prof. Zhang Jinli, Dr. Qin Hongyun, Zhang Chen, Yang Chao, Xue Song and Wang Chenglong of our group participated in the meeting and gave presnetations at the conference.
Prof. Zhang Jinli, as the member of the academic committee of the Agitation and Mixing of the Chemical Industry and Engineering Society of China, gave a report titled "Research and Industrial Application of High Shear Mixer", which introduced the research status of high-shear and industrial application. Dr. Qin Hongyun made a report entitled "Study on Micro-mixing Characteristics of High-shear Reactors", and introduced the use of iodide-iodate parallel competitive reaction system to investigate the two different structures of blade-screen type and teethed type of high shear reactors, which provides a theoretical basis for the intensification of the rapid reaction process limited by mixing via high shear reactors. Zhang Chen made a report on the " Optimization of Residence Time Distribution of In-line High Shear Mixer by CFD ", introduced the residence time distribution under different configurations of the stator through the LES model and the SPE model, and provided a feasible method for the study of high shear back mixing characteristics . Yang Chao made a report about " Synthesis of Aragonite CaCO3 Nanocrystals by Reactive Crystallization in a High Shear Mixer", introduced the application of HSMs in controlling crystal polymorphs and particle size in reactive crystallization. During the conference, the participants of our group actively exchanged views with others, not only showed the research results of our group, but also learned more about the most recent research on agitation and mixing, which is of great significance to the following research of our group.
